How “You can be anything you want to” is a myth and simply impractical?

Remember the time when you were a child and your parents first told you that "you can be anything you want to be in life", as long as you put your mind and hard work towards it. Now fast forward to the so called Modern day Motivating and inspirational stories of J.K. Rowling, Bill Gates, Walt Disney and Steve Jobs. Can you be anyone of them? I am currently 25, and I don’t think I could become anyone of them. It’s not like that I think less of meself but it simply sounds impractical and unachievable at this moment.
These days, self motivation has become an important thing, hence an whole industry of Motivational Speaking and quoting has emerged from nowhere. These influential speakers would continuously feed you to change your lifestyle and work hard for your goals, which is not necessarily a bad thing. The issues I have with them is that they constantly try to make you believe that with enough hard work and discipline You can be anything you want to be in life! Which is simply not true!!!

What are we doing wrong?

Ask yourself have you been doing what you had dreamt of in your childhood? I wanted to be an Astronaut....ok anything related to Space but here I am writing Blogs after graduating from Electrical Engineering. "You can be anything you want to" advices, creates a false sense that we are somehow in control of our own destiny. It opens up the possibilities of an infinite universe, the options you would never had thought of earlier. Keep Reading
